Notes: All-Star Game Team announced

One Sassian named as Alternate

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Here for the Sass team announced that one Sassian was named as an alternate to the MLB All-Star Game this year. Outfielder Jermaine Dye was named to the American League alternate team, and it is hoped he gets some time in the field.

“It’s really an honor to have my numbers noticed. I think what’s of particular note is that I’m in the same class as StacyTwins733’s Joe Mauer, who is without a doubt the hottest hitter in the league. If fans aren’t voting him in, I’m okay with being named an alternate, too,” Jermaine said.

It was a bit perplexing that the Sass only managed one player, but not overly surprising.

“Lower ranked teams always get less people. It’s not the quality of the player, it’s the popularity of the player. Besides, we all know Commissioner SBGF is from New York, and those fans will cheat any way they can to get their players on,” Adam Dunn said. “Totally unfair. I hit more home runs and walk more than Jermaine.”

Sass hitting coach Bronson Arroyo of Mockball Madness has also made it to the All-Star Team, although with the National League.

Sass Catcher A.J. Pierzynski is on the final ballot for the American League team, but asks that that fans vote for Francisco Liriano of the Wombats, instead. "We've got two catchers on the AL team, and with Joe Mauer of StacyTwins733 on the team, there's really no need for me. That Frisco kid, however, truly needs to get in the game. That man, he can sit 'em down."

Pitcher’s presentation: On Friday morning, Beth and Dawn resurrected their That is a Very Bad Idea presentation. The presentation was originally created when the Sass pitchers decided to suck as much as they could, as a sort of competition. Beth and Dawn have repeatedly told them that that is a very bad idea, and it seemed to work for a while. However, they excused Carlos S. from the presentation for his good performance earlier this week, and when Carlos came to the mound on Saturday, he decided to see just how poorly he could pitch.

“Even Kristin on Sunday didn’t improve his performance on the mound,” Beth said, “So we’re going to have another refresher course on Monday. I’m just grateful we remembered to video tape it last time. Dawn and I don’t really need to give it again. It’s definitely not boring, but it’s a lesson we don’t really need.”

New scouting area: This weekend, Clubhouse Manager Rach has been off to western North Dakota for scouting purposes.

"This is an area that's largely unscouted, and we feel it's important to check out the prospects there. This weekend worked well for Rach to be gone from the team since we were home, and she can drive straight to Kansas City to meet us there,” Dawn said.

Rach has reported that she will not be able to join the team on Monday, as originally planned, but will be back with the team either later on Tuesday or on Wednesday.

Aaron Day! Beth admits she’s easily amused, so when the Sass had another double-header scheduled today, she decided to make it Aaron Day, sending both Aaron Harang and Aaron Cook to the mound. Aaron H. will pitch the afternoon game, and Aaron C. will pitch the evening game. The same Sassians will play in both games, because neither Beth nor Dawn feels like putting together two line-ups. The bench players were a little upset until Beth and Dawn allowed them to play in the field for both games, but they will likely not get at-bats.

“It’s the designated hitter for position players. It’s not in the official rules, but we’re hoping aussie doesn’t notice,” Dawn said.
